
Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has revealed he underwent a significant medical procedure to remove a large facial synovial cyst – a spinal condition that causes nerve compression and considerable discomfort.
The 50-year-old New Zealander, who has been working closely with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), successfully underwent the surgery at a hospital in Lahore. Jio News On Friday.
Grateful for the professional care he received, Hessen thanked his surgeon and the PCB medical team for their exceptional support.
“It’s been a great week since having a large facet synovial cyst removed,” Hessen wrote.
“Special thanks to my surgeon Dr. Asif Bashar and the rest of the PCP medical team for taking such incredibly good care of me,” he added.
He also highlighted the unexpected kindness of his personal security officer, who went above and beyond the call of duty to care for him during his recovery.
She expressed her gratitude following a recent health procedure, acknowledging the support she received from medical professionals and close friends during her recovery.
“Special thanks to my surgeon, Dr. Asif Bashar, and the rest of the PCP medical team, who took incredibly good care of me,” he said.
“My personal security doubled as a full-time friend and nurse for a few days. Thank you, Mubasher,” he added.
Hesson complained of a lump in his back and preferred to seek treatment in Lahore instead of returning to New Zealand, the sources added.
The medical staff at the local facility advised him to rest for two weeks after the surgery.
Hessen has confirmed he has returned home to New Zealand, where he plans to recuperate with his family.
“Just got home, good to recover and spend a couple of weeks in New Zealand with my family,” he concluded.
