LAHORE: 2020 champions Karachi Kings defeated debutants Rawalpindis by 5 wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in the 10th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 on Thursday.

Batting first, Bintis amassed a mammoth total of 197/6 in 20 overs thanks to a formidable partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Sam Billings for the fourth wicket.

Mitchell scored a blistering 65 off 41 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Billings hit 58 off 35 balls with eight fours and a six.

Hasan Ali was the standout bowler for Kings with 3 wickets for 24 runs in his four overs, Khushdil two wickets and Hamza one wicket.

In turn, the 2020 champions comfortably chased down the target of 198 runs with 5 wickets and 4 balls to spare on the back of half-centuries from captain David Warner and wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan.

Assam top scored for Kings with 74 off 34 balls with 6 fours and a six, while Warner scored 50 off 36 balls with 6 fours and a six.

The five-wicket win secured Kings’ third in as many games and helped them regain the top spot in the PSL 11 standings behind Multan Sultans, who have four points from two matches.

On the other hand, it was the second successive defeat for Rawalpindis, who were ranked seventh, just ahead of fellow debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen, due to their relatively high net run rate.

Former champions Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United are third and fourth with three points each, while defending champions Lahore Qalandars and last edition’s runners-up Quetta Gladiators are fifth and sixth with two points each.
