LAHORE: Opener Faqar Zaman has appealed against his two-match suspension after he was found guilty of Level 3 breach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) code of conduct, sources said. Jio News On Wednesday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the suspension following an incident during Lahore Qalandars’ clash with Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

The incident occurred in the final stages of the match when the field umpires penalized the Lahore team for five runs and ordered them to change the ball before the last over of the Karachi Kings innings.

Umpires Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Afridi, TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rashid booked the charge against the defending champions’ opening batsman.

The 35-year-old denied the allegations and demanded a full disciplinary inquiry under the PSL Code of Conduct.

The investigation was overseen by match referee Roshan Mahanama, who reviewed all available evidence and gave Zaman a personal hearing.

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, team director Sameen Rana and team manager Farooq Anwar were also present during the event.

He was charged under Section 2.14 of the Code, which relates to “altering the position of the ball in contravention of Rule 41.3 of the PSL Playing Conditions”.

A first level 3 offense carries a minimum penalty of one match suspension and a maximum of two matches.

Sources confirmed that Zaman has now appealed against the suspension to the PSL Technical Committee.

Lahore Qalandars are next scheduled to face Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, April 3, followed by a match against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on April 9.
