
LAHORE: Former champions Multan Sultans achieved a major Pakistan Super League (PSL) record on Wednesday, successfully completing the highest ever run chase at the Gaddafi Stadium during the third match of the 11th edition of the tournament against Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Courtesy of Sahibzada Farhan’s match-winning century, Sultans converted a formidable target, ending their earlier successful chase at the venue.
The record was achieved earlier this year when Peshawar Zalmi chased down newcomers Rawalpindi’s 215 with 5 balls to spare.

Batting first, the Kingsmen scored 225 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. The innings was built on half-centuries from opener Mas Sadaq and veteran Sharjeel Khan.
Maas top-scored for Hyderabad with 62 off 26 balls, while Sharjeel remained unbeaten on 51, facing the same number of balls.
Mohammad Wasim Jr was the pick of the bowlers for Sultans with 2 wickets for 37 runs in his four overs. Mohammad Nawaz, Peter Siddle and captain Ashton Turner took one wicket each.
Chasing a tough target of 226, Sultans achieved their victory with Sahibzada Farhan’s unbeaten century with four wickets and eight balls to spare.
Farhan followed up the win with an unbeaten 106 off 57 balls in an innings that included 8 sixes and 7 fours.
He received valuable support from opening partner Steve Smith (46) and vice-captain Shaun Masood (29), before teaming up with Arafat Minhas to lead the former champions, who scored an unbeaten 26 off 11 balls.
Saim Ayub was the most successful bowler for the Kingsmen, conceding 43 runs in his three overs, taking two wickets, albeit at an expensive cost. Mahesh Deekshana and Hasan Khan took one wicket each.
