LAHORE: Hyderabad Kingsmen all-rounder Saim Ayub has played down concerns over his recent form, saying he does not see it as a “bad patch” but rather a challenge and an opportunity to learn.
speaks Jio NewsAyub said that he is not concerned about immediate results and is instead focusing on improving his game through the right process.
“I wouldn’t call it a bad patch; it’s a challenge for me. There are phases like this in life. I try to learn and improve. Even though I’m not going through a tough time, I’m still trying to learn. I don’t care about the results – I focus on the process,” Ayub said.
The young cricketer, who is known for his attacking approach with both bat and ball, expressed his satisfaction with the team atmosphere at Hyderabad Kingsmen, saying he has exceeded his expectations.
“Hyderabad Kingsmen’s environment is better than I expected. I am very excited to play for this new team. I have played with many players in the team before, including those who participated in tours to USA and domestic cricketers,” he added.
Ayoub praised captain Marnus Labousagne, highlighting the positive atmosphere in the team.
“Our captain Marnus Labuschagne is very happy. The environment is friendly and we are very happy,” he said.
Ayub, considered one of the most expensive players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), acknowledged the expectations that come with representing any franchise but stressed the importance of adapting over time.
“No matter what team you play for, expectations are always high. With time, you learn how to adapt to the new environment. We have an Australian captain and coach and our mindset is to play attacking cricket,” he said.
“The management is encouraging us to adopt an aggressive approach in batting, bowling and fielding,” he noted.
Ayub, who was previously ranked No.1 all-rounder, insisted that individual ranking was not his priority.
“I am not focused on being No. 1 or No. 2. The coaches are helping me a lot and I am trying to learn from them. My aim is to contribute in batting, bowling and fielding. Rank is not important – I am focused on doing my best to help the team win,” he concluded.
