KARACHI: Three-time champions Islamabad United on Wednesday announced that they will replace Australia’s Max Bryant with compatriot Chris Green for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 starting on March 26.

According to United, Bryant, who was signed for Rs 19.5 million in the players’ auction last month, suffered an injury that ruled him out of the eight-team tournament, which was scheduled to run until May 3.

As a result, three-time champions Green brought in Rs14 million ahead of the tournament, forcing a change in their squad.

“(Chris Green) has replaced Max Bryant. Unfortunately, Max Bryant has been ruled out of (PSL) due to injury,” United wrote on social media.

Having featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL), SA20, Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and The Hundred, Green is one of the most sought-after Australian cricketers in franchise leagues worldwide.

The bowling all-rounder featured in the PSL when he represented Multan Sultans in the 2019 edition, during which he took four wickets and 27 runs in five appearances.

Notably, United will begin their PSL 11 campaign on Saturday when they take on Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The historic 11th edition of the marquee league will see eight teams, including two newcomers Rawalpindis and Hyderabad Kingsmen, compete in 44 matches for the first time in the 39-day event.

Islamabad United squad updated for PSL 11: Shatab Khan (catch), Salman Irshad, Andries Ghose, Devon Conway, Faheem Ashraf, Mehran Mumtaz, Chris Green, Mark Chapman, Nisar Ahmed, Mir Hamza Sajjad, Sameen Gul, Sameer Minhas, Imad Wasim, Richard Gleeson, Mohammad Gleeson, Mohammad Asli Faiq and Mohammad Salman Mirza.
