LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam on Wednesday outlined the steps taken to improve their bowling stock for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, which begins on March 26.
Speaking at the PSL 11 captains’ conference, Babar was asked how the franchise plans to deal with Zalmi’s recent struggles and the limited availability of overseas bowlers Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana.
In response, the skipper acknowledged the struggles of their respective bowling attacks over the years but insisted they had fixed the problem with their signing.
Babar, however, stressed the importance of executing plans, regardless of the strength of their bowling attack.
“Yes, of course, the bowling attacks we have struggled with in previous seasons, this time, we have fixed it (with our signings) and will try to execute the plan,” Babbar said.
“The main thing is to execute the plans. Whatever type of bowling (stocks) you choose, if you don’t execute the plans, it’s of no use. So, by the will of Allah Almighty, we focus on executing (our plans).”
Despite being one of the marquee league’s most consistent franchises, Zalmi have been unable to win the coveted title since 2017, primarily due to their bowling struggles over the years.
The 2017 champions have conceded 200-plus scores 14 times in the PSL, all of which came between the 2021 and 2025 editions.
They will open their PSL 11 campaign on Saturday against tournament debutants Rawalpindis at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
