
Hyderabad: Debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen have appointed all-rounder Hasan Khan as the vice-captain ahead of the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from March 26 to May 3.
The franchise announced the decision on their official social media accounts, captioning the post: “A cool and sharp companion. Aasan Jo Vice Captain Hasan Khan Ahi.”
Earlier, Australia’s top-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne was named the Kingsmen captain ahead of the tournament. The franchise shared a 26-second video showing a private jet dropping leaflets over Hyderabad that read, “Marnus Labuschagne announced as captain.”
Labuschagne, who signed directly with the Kingsmen ahead of last month’s player draft for an undisclosed fee, has been a key figure in Australia’s long form since his international debut against Pakistan in 2018.
However, he has incidentally featured only once in T20 Internationals against Pakistan in 2022.
Hyderabad Kingsmen owner Fawad Sarwar recently gave an update on the availability of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
Speaking during a live session on the franchise’s Instagram, Sarwar confirmed that Maxwell will join the match in its second half and play till the end due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
The landmark 11th edition of the PSL will see eight teams, including newcomers Rawalpindis and Hyderabad Kingsmen, compete in 44 matches over 39 days.
Each team will play ten matches, with the top four advancing to the playoffs. The knockout stage will consist of Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final scheduled on May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with reserve day on May 4.
PSL 11 will feature six double-headers, three of which will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium. The matches will be held at six venues namely Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar, Faisalabad and Peshawar are the first to host PSL matches.
