Peshawar: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been forced to postpone the 2026 National T20 Cup final due to continuous rains and a waterlogged pitch at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
The event was scheduled to take place on Thursday, featuring Abbottabad region and Karachi region whites.
However, with steady rain hampering any play and the toss being suspended, the officials had no choice but to delay the match. A new date and venue for the final will be confirmed in due course.
The latest disruption followed a similar fate in the second semi-final at the same Peshawar ground where a ball was abandoned in the second innings.
In that match, Lahore Regional Whites advanced to the final after losing the match against Abbottabad.
In that encounter, Lahore Whites scored 194 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Openers Mohammad Iqlaq (42 off 35 balls, with 6 fours) and Mohammad Faiq laid a solid foundation before Mohammad Imran unleashed a ferocious onslaught.
Imran was unbeaten on 62 off 31 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes.
However, Abbottabad’s chase of 195 was thwarted before the start as rain continued to pelt the ground and the match was eventually abandoned.
With no result possible, the Lahore Whites advanced to the final honor of their highest position in the group-stage points table.
The Faqar Zaman-led side finished top of their group following an impressive campaign.
They have three wins from four matches, amassing six points and a net run rate of 1.600. They will now await the rescheduled final against Karachi Regional Whites.
