LAHORE: Defending champions Lahore Qalandars on Thursday announced the signing of left-arm pacer Shahab Khan as a replacement for injured pacer Ali Shabbir ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League from March 26 to May 3.
The owner confirmed the development on social media platform X saying that Shahab Khan has officially joined the team.
Shahab has emerged as one of the best players in domestic cricket with a stunning campaign for Abbottabad in the 2026 National T20 Cup, where he took 13 wickets in five games.
Overall, the fast bowler has taken 46 wickets in 22 T20 matches at an economy rate of 8.39. His record includes three four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls, underlining his performance in the shorter format.
Meanwhile, the three-time champions confirmed that Shabbir suffered a right arm injury while fielding for Bahawalpur during the National T20 Cup.
Following a comprehensive medical evaluation, it was decided that the young fast bowler will not be able to participate in this year’s PSL.
Shabir, who was recently signed in the Under-23 category, was expected to feature in the squad this season.
He joined the ongoing conditioning camp at the Smart Calendars High Performance Center in Islamabad, where he was further evaluated by the team’s medical staff.
The fast bowler has been advised to rest for four to six weeks due to the fracture, which has ruled him out of the tournament.
The upcoming PSL season will last for 39 days from March 26 to May 3 and features an expanded line-up of eight teams that will take on the Kulanders along with debutants Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.
