LAHORE: Defending champions Lahore Qalandars on Monday began their preparations for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3.
According to details, the three-time winners held a pre-tournament training camp at the Smart Calendars High Performance Center in Islamabad during which their players honed their skills for the 11th edition of the marquee league, which will feature eight teams and be played at six venues for the first time.
In a video shared by Kilanders, wicketkeeper Hasibullah Khan and top-order batsman Mohammad Farooq are seen taking batting practice.
Franchise owner Sameen Rana, who attended the opening day of the three-day camp, said the aim was to help the eight teams “gel” ahead of the tournament.
“We started this conditioning camp for PSL to give the players a chance to gel with each other as time is very limited,” Rana said.
Rana further shared that after the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation, a two-day training camp will be held to make full use of the short window for preparations.
He highlighted the franchise’s commitment to giving emerging players a chance to prove their mettle by taking part in the ongoing camp.
“After the Eid break, we will organize a two-day camp so that the players can continue their preparation and get in rhythm before the start of the tournament,” shared Rana.
“We have also given an opportunity to players of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to participate in the camp,” he added.
The franchise owner expressed his confidence that the team will deliver a strong performance in the upcoming PSL 11, citing the strong combination they tried to build through the historic player auction held last month.
“We have tried to build a strong composition through the draft and have addressed the gaps in the squad. We are confident that Lahore Qalandars will once again put up a strong performance,” concluded Rana.
Notably, the Qalandars will begin their PSL 11 campaign in a curtain-raiser scheduled to play against the Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium on March 26.
