KARACHI: Former champions Multan Sultans have finalized a transfer deal involving all-rounder Saad Masood, sending him to Bindis in a strategic move ahead of the much-anticipated 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3.
The transaction, confirmed by the franchise on Monday, is designed to give the Sultans more financial flexibility as they continue to refine their squad for the upcoming campaign.
As per the terms of the deal, Rawalpindi-based Bindis will buy Masood and take full responsibility for his salary purse for the duration of the season.
In return, the Sultans of Multan would receive an additional 500,000 rupees as part of the trade.
The clearance of the salary cap space, coupled with the incoming funds, is expected to enable the Sultans management to further develop their roster and pursue signings in line with the team’s “Total Cricket” ethos.
In an official statement, Multan Sultans expressed their gratitude to the departed player: “Multan Sultans would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Saad Masood as he embarks on this new chapter of his career with the Rawalpindi Bindis.”
The upcoming PSL season, set to begin on March 26 in Lahore, will have an expanded format that includes two new franchises: Bindis and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.
In the opening game of the tournament, defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face Kingsmen.
This year’s tournament will be held over 39 days with 44 matches. In the group stage, eight teams will play ten matches each, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs.
The final is scheduled to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 3, with May 4 being the reserve day if conditions warrant.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that six double-headers will be played, three of them at the Gaddafi Stadium.
The tournament will be held in six cities – Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar. Notably, Faisalabad and Peshawar will host PSL matches for the first time.
Gaddafi Stadium will serve as the main venue, hosting 15 matches, followed by Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium for 11. Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad will host seven matches, while Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will host six matches.
Multan Cricket Stadium is set to host four matches and Peshawar’s Imran Khan Cricket Stadium will host one match on March 28.
