Mirpur: Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha was on Saturday reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching its code of conduct.

According to the apex cricket body, Agha was found to have breached ICC Code of Conduct 2.2 regarding “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match”.

Also, one demerit point is added to the all-rounder’s discipline record. This is Agha’s first offense in 24 months.

In the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings, Bangladesh skipper Miraz bowled a flat delivery to Mohammad Rizwan.

The ball spun and rolled straight towards Salman Agha, who was standing at the non-striker’s end. The Pakistan all-rounder initially tried to block the ball, but was intercepted by Miraz through his right foot.

When the ball stopped, Agha bent down to hand it to Meeras, who instead took the opportunity to collect it and quickly break the stumps, leaving Agha stranded and run out.

Miraz’s move did not go down well with Pakistan’s T20I captain, who later showed his frustration by throwing his gloves and helmet on the ground as he returned to the pavilion.

Field umpires Adrian Holdstock and Tanveer Ahmed, third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul upheld the charge.

Salman Ali Agha pleaded guilty and accepted the sentence, removing the need for a formal trial.

According to ICC rules, Level 1 offenses carry the minimum sanction of an official censure, a maximum fine of 50 per cent of the match fee and one or two demerit points.
