KARACHI: Three-time champions Islamabad United on Saturday traded right-arm pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr to Multan Sultans for fellow seamers Salman Mirza and Nisar Ahmed for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 scheduled to be played from March 26 to May 3.
Wasim Jr, who was released by 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators ahead of the historic player auction, was snapped up by United for Rs 41 million in the released bowlers category.
The three-time champions, however, have released the now 24-year-old and replaced him with Salman, who was retained by Sialkot Stallions for Rs39.2 million in the Diamond Division.
To bridge the gap between the two players’ salary caps, United also secured the services of emerging batsman Nisar for Rs60 million.
“Congratulations to Wasim at Multan Sultans as we welcome Salman Mirza & Nisar Ahmed,” United X previously wrote on Twitter, as the three-time champions shared a graphic banner of their trade with the Sultans.
For the uninitiated, the latter represents a trade involving the Sultans, who previously brought in Ahmed Daniel and Jahanzeeb Sultan from the Gladiators for Faisal Akram and Arafat Minhas.
Ahead of the historic PSL players’ auction, Sultans retained Daniel in the gold division through Sialkot Stallionz, during which they bought Jahansip for Rs 6 million.
Gladiators, on the other hand, picked up Faisal and Arafat for Rs 12.5 million and Rs 11 million respectively.
