
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering introducing digital ticketing for select venues during the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be held from March 26 to May 3, sources said. Jio News On Friday.
According to sources, a digital ticket option is being considered for VIP and premium connections for matches in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
If implemented, spectators holding tickets for these sections will be able to enter stadiums by presenting their tickets online, which aims to streamline the entry process and reduce queues at stadiums.
In a separate conclusion, the PCB has chosen to keep the ticket prices for this year’s tournament very affordable. The ticket price for the league phase of PSL 11 is set at PKR 300 to PKR 3,000.
The historic 11th edition of the marquee league will feature eight teams, with two new contenders – Bintis and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen – competing in 44 matches across the 39-day tournament.
The tournament kicks off on March 26 with Hyderabad taking on Houston Kingsmen at home to defending champions Lahore Qalandars.
According to the recently released schedule, each team will play a total of 10 matches in the league stage, with the top four advancing to the playoffs.
The knockout stage will consist of Qualifier 1, Eliminator and Qualifier 2, followed by the final on May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The PCB has also set aside a reserve day for the final on May 4.
PSL 11 will feature six double-headers, three of which will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium.
The landmark edition will be played at six venues in Pakistan, with Faisalabad and Peshawar set to host PSL matches for the first time, joining Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.
Among the venues, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the highest number of matches (15), followed by Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with 11. Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad will host seven matches.
Six matches will be played at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, while four matches will be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Meanwhile, Peshawar’s Imran Khan Cricket Stadium will host a one-day match between home team Peshawar Zalmi and Bintis on March 28.
