KARACHI: On the first day of the trade window for the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, which is scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3, 2021 champions Multan Sultans brought in Ahmed Daniel and Jahanzeeb Sultan for Faisal Akram and Arafat Minhas.
Daniel was retained in the gold division by Sultans, Sialkot Stallionz, ahead of the historic PSL players auction, during which they bid for Jahansaib for Rs6 million.
Gladiators, on the other hand, picked up Faisal and Arafat for Rs 12.5 million and Rs 11 million respectively.
Meanwhile, both franchises have exchanged four players, making changes to their respective squads for the landmark 11th edition of the marquee league, which will have eight teams for the first time since its inception in 2016.
The development comes hours after the marquee league announced the opening of the trade window until March 18.
During the trade window, player trades are permitted for eight participating franchises, primarily player for player trade, player for cash trade, and player and player for cash trade, according to competition regulations and salary cap rules.
A player-for-player trade allows two franchises to swap players with each other boasting similar salary caps, while a player-for-money trade allows a player to be traded in exchange for an agreed-upon financial amount.
Meanwhile, on player-for-player and cash trades, owners can exchange players, with one of them receiving an agreed-upon financial amount as part of the trade.
Notably, all eight franchises are bound to complete the trade within their respective salary caps, which will be finalized only after approval by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
