LAHORE: Pakistan Super League (PSL) countdown has officially unveiled the official logo for the 11th edition.
The league’s official X account unveiled the new branding, which prominently incorporates the number “11” in its design, the Urdu word for eleven (Giyarah).
The new logo has been dropped as preparations for the historic season scheduled to begin on March 26 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore are over.
This year’s tournament will see the league expand to eight teams for the first time.
In the opening match, defending champions Lahore Qalandars will take on openers Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen. The tournament will be preceded by a colorful opening ceremony in Lahore.
In a significant development a few weeks before the tournament, the franchise that initially ran as Sialkot Stallions was officially renamed Multan Sultans.
The change follows a strategic partnership and majority acquisition by CD Ventures, with the appointment of Gohar Shah as the new CEO.
The rebranding, which was approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), increased the franchise’s value to Rs. 1.85 billion to Rs. 2 billion, marking the comeback of the team representing South Punjab.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer confirmed the opening match details while addressing the media along with the franchise’s representatives.
He mentioned that the first phase of the tournament will be heavily centered on Lahore and the full schedule will be announced soon.
Discussions are also underway to expand the league’s footprint.
Naseer also addressed speculations about hosting a tournament abroad to engage the Pakistani diaspora, saying the matter was under serious consideration as the PSL aims to cement its status as a global league.
