Kandy: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz achieved a remarkable milestone with his two wickets against England in the Super Eight match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Pallekale International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Nawaz returned a decent 2/26 from his three overs in the two-wicket defeat of two-time champions Pakistan to complete his century of wickets in the shortest format.

The left-arm spinner has now taken 100 wickets in 97 T20Is at a decent average of 20.88 and an economy rate of 7.16.

As a result, Nawaz became the fourth Pakistani to amass the milestone in the shortest format, joining Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Shaheen leads the elusive list of Pakistan bowlers with the most T20I wickets with 135 scalps in 102 innings, surpassing fellow pacer Haris with four wickets in the aforementioned tournament.

Most wickets taken for Pakistan in men’s T20Is

  • Shaheen Shah Afridi – 135 in 102 innings
  • Harris Rauff – 133 in 92 innings
  • Shatab Khan – 123 in 114 innings
  • Mohammad Nawaz – 100 in 91 innings

Also, Nawaz has 911 runs in the shortest format and thus needs 81 more runs to become the second Pakistani to reach the double of 100 wickets and 1000 runs in men’s T20Is, joining Shatab.

Shadab, who had 123 T20I wickets, crossed the thousand-run barrier by scoring 1002 runs in 68 innings, with 23 runs to his name.

Overall, Shadab became the sixth T20 man to achieve the feat, joining Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, India’s Hardik Pandya and Malaysia’s Virandeep Singh.
