LONDON: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared on Tuesday that investors have expressed interest in acquiring the franchise of two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises at a roadshow at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday.

According to the cricket board, the roadshow helped the marquee league “gain unprecedented attention” at the iconic venue widely regarded as the home of cricket, with a large number of investors attending the event and two PSL franchises expressing their interest for sale.

“PSL 11 has soared to new heights, bringing unprecedented attention to the home of cricket,” PCB said in a statement.

“For the first time in history, the highly successful PSL Roadshow was organized at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

“A number of investors attended the London roadshow and expressed interest in buying two new teams.”

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in a statement quoted by the cricket board, termed “strong investor interest” as a positive development for the league, describing the milestone as an honor for the entire country.

“Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the strong investor interest in acquiring two PSL 11 teams is very positive and encouraging,” PCB quoted Naqvi as saying.

“PCB is determined to make PSL a big international brand,” he added. “This milestone is not only an achievement for PCB but also an honor for peaceful and sports-loving Pakistan.”

Notably, the PSL, which started with five franchises in 2016, has further expanded with the addition of two new teams from its upcoming 11th edition to be played next year.

With the upcoming additions, PSL will undergo its first major overhaul in seven years, bringing the total number of franchises to eight.
