Pallekale: Dominating Sri Lanka beat Oman by 105 runs in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Pallekala International Cricket Stadium on Thursday to register their second straight win.

Chasing 226, Oman were restricted to 120-9 in 20 overs. Mohammad Nadeem scored a top score of 53 off 56 balls including 3 fours and a six.

Wasim Ali scored 27 runs off 20 balls with 3 sixes, while the rest of the batting line-up failed to make a significant impact.

Dushmantha Sameera and Mahish Deekshana took two wickets each in Sri Lanka’s bowling. Dunith Vellalake, Dushan Hemantha and Kamindu Mendis took one wicket each.

Batting first, Sri Lanka amassed 225-5 in 20 overs thanks to wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis, Pawan Ratnayake and captain Dasun Shanaka.

The hosts got off to a torrid start, scoring 13 runs off 11 balls with 2 fours before Sufyan Mehmood was dismissed and Kamil Mishara was bowled by Jay Odetra for 8, making the score 42-2 in 5.1 overs.

Ratnayake and Kusal Mendis steadied the innings with a 94-run stand during which Ratnayake registered his maiden T20I half-century.

Sri Lanka were 136-3 in 13.3 overs before Ratnayake was bowled by Jitan Ramanandhi after scoring a crucial 60 off 28 balls with eight fours and a six.

Captain Dasun Shanaka along with Kusal Mendis batted aggressively as the pair crossed the 150-run mark with a partnership of 63 runs.

Shanaka scored 50 off 20 balls including 2 fours and 5 sixes before being dismissed again by Ramanandhi.

Next ball, Kusal Mendis was run out for 61 off 45 balls, including 7 boundaries, as Sri Lanka posted 200-5 in 18.2 overs.

Kamindu Mendis finished Sri Lanka’s innings unbeaten on 19 off 7 balls with a four and 2 sixes, while Dunith Vellalaghe scored 6 runs.
