KARACHI: Rawalpindi on Wednesday announced the signing of four players ahead of the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3.
The franchise confirmed its four picks ahead of the much-anticipated player auction on February 11.
Rawalpindi has secured the services of Mohammad Rizwan, Sam Billings, Zaman Khan and Yasir Khan in various divisions.
Rizwan was signed in the Platinum category for PKR 56 million, while England’s Billings was selected in the Diamond category for PKR 30.8 million.
Zaman was bought for PKR 11.2 million in the gold category, while Yasir Khan, who was selected in the silver category, will fetch PKR 6 million.
Earlier this week, the franchise rights of former champions Multan Sultans were decided during a high-profile auction held at the Expo Centre.
Bidding intensified after the final call when Valley Technologies returned with a bid of PKR 2.45 billion, prompting CD Ventures to request a strategic deadline.
After a five-minute break, CD Ventures bowed out. Bidder’s Final Call confirmed Wally Technologies as the successful bidder, securing ownership of the franchise for the next 10 years.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi handed over the ceremonial key to representatives of Wali Technologies, who later announced the transfer of ownership from Multan to Rawalpindi.
