BENGALURU: Ryan Barrack’s superb half-century led India A to a 130-run win over Namibia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 practice match at the BCCI Center of Excellence Stadium 1 on Friday.
Batting first, India A captain Ayush Patoni’s decision paid off as his batting unit amassed a respectable total of 197/8 in their 20 overs.
He scored 69 runs off 39 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes.
Apart from him, Naman Dhir and Ashutosh Sharma scored 39 and 35 respectively to help India A’s total.
For Namibia, Ruben Trumpelmann, Max Heingo and captain Gerhard Erasmus took 2 wickets each, while Bernard Scholz and Willem Myburg took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 198 runs, Namibia’s batting unit piled up 67 runs before being bowled out in 12.1 overs.
Dylan Leecher continued to be the top scorer for the African side with 22 off 20 balls, while opener Jan Freilink (12) was the only other player to hit double figures against a ruthless India A bowling attack.
Gurjapneet Singh, Mayank Yadav, Ashok Sharma, Vibraj Nigam took 2 wickets each and Ravi Bishnoi and Captain Padoni took one wicket each for India A team.
The humbling defeat meant Namibia entered the tournament with a different momentum as they had earlier beaten Scotland by six runs in their high-scoring first warm-up game.
The African team, drawn in Group A, will open their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against the Netherlands on February 10 before taking on co-hosts and defending champions India at the same venue on February 12.
They will then travel to Chennai where they will lock horns with USA (USA) on February 15, while their remaining group-stage game is scheduled against Pakistan on February 18 in Colombo.
