LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars have confirmed that their long-serving all-rounder David Wise will not be participating in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 due to unforeseen circumstances and important family commitments.
Wiese has shared a strong and enduring association with the Qalandars over the past seven seasons and has expressed his desire to return in future editions of the PSL.
During his tenure with the franchise, he has been a key contributor both on and off the field, consistently performing with bat and ball while serving as an integral member of the team’s leadership team.
His experience, composure under pressure and mentoring of the younger players have been key pillars in the journey and success of the Lahore Qalandars.
The franchise expressed full support for Wise’s decision to prioritize his family this season. His contributions as a leader and player are always valued and the team looks forward to welcoming him back in future campaigns.
Sameen Rana, owner of Lahore Qalandars, praised David for his long-term role within the franchise, noting his on-field contributions but also his influence as part of the team’s leadership team.
Speaking about David’s decision to temporarily step down, Rana expressed his full support and appreciation for his commitment to the family.
“David has been an integral part of the Lahore Qalandars family and our leadership team for many years. His contributions go beyond on-field performances. We fully respect his decision to prioritize his family at this time and look forward to welcoming him back in the future,” Rana said.
David Wise, reflecting on his journey and experiences with the Lahore Qalandars, expressed deep appreciation for the team’s camaraderie and culture.
“Being a part of Lahore Qalandars is more than cricket—it’s a family. The camaraderie within the team, the positive and supportive environment and the passion that everyone brings every day makes this franchise truly special. I will always love being called Murshad by the team and the fans,” said Wise.
He further elaborated on the connection he shares with the team and its supporters, highlighting the impact of his role on and off the field.
“The love and respect I have received over the years from everyone associated with Lahore Qalandars has been immense and it is humbling to know that my guidance has made a difference off the field as well. I am proud to be part of a team that values teamwork, growth and the spirit of the game.
Notably, the 40-year-old has been a part of Lahore Qalandars for seven seasons following his PSL debut with Karachi Kings in 2017.
He played 54 PSL matches and scored 629 runs at a strike rate of 161.69 and took 38 wickets with the ball.
For the uninitiated, the historic 11th edition of PSL will begin on March 26 and continue till May 3. This edition introduces two new teams, Hyderabad and Sialkot Stallions.
Additionally, the 11th edition will feature a player auction for the first time, scheduled for February 11 instead of the traditional draft.
