Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Saturday confirmed that veteran South Africa batsman David Miller has been medically cleared to play in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Miller is racing against time to regain fitness after sustaining a suspected groin injury while fielding during Paarl Royals’ SA20 clash against Joburg Super Kings earlier this month.
The 36-year-old joins Tony de Sorsi and Donovan Ferreira among the South Africans who were ruled out of the upcoming 20-team mega event last week due to their respective injuries.
Meanwhile, according to the latest development, CSA shared that Miller has been declared medically fit to participate in the upcoming mega event after undergoing a fitness test this week.
“Proteas men’s batsman David Miller has been medically cleared for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka next month,” the CSA said in a statement.
“Miller successfully underwent a fitness test this week following a cramp sustained while playing for Paarl Royals during the Betway SA20,” it added.
Notably, Miller, who missed South Africa’s three-match home series against the West Indies due to injury, will join their squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which leaves here for Mumbai on Sunday.
“He will join the team on Sunday when they depart Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport for Mumbai.”
