Former Pakistan head coach Grant Bradburn has joined the new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise in Hyderabad as the fielding coach for the upcoming historic 11th edition starting on March 26.

The announcement was made on Kingsmen Cricket’s social media platform: “Hyderabad welcomes Grant Bradburn as fielding coach.”

Meanwhile, a post shared on the team’s social media handle revealed that former England all-rounder Craig White will serve as the team’s assistant coach.

Bradburn was appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan Men’s National Team in 2023 following a thorough recruitment process while Najam Sethi served as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.

Having served as fielding coach from 2018 to 2020 before moving to the National Cricket Academy to focus on coach development, he has extensive knowledge of the national side.

The former New Zealand cricketer also served as the head coach of the Scotland men’s team before taking over in Pakistan.

In 2024, the 57-year-old resigned from his post along with team director Mickey Arthur, while Andrew Buttick served as batting coach for a year.

Yesterday, former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie was officially appointed as the head coach of Hyderabad.

The 50-year-old previously served in Pakistan’s coaching set-up and was appointed head coach of the Test team in April 2024, alongside Gary Kirsten, who led the white-ball team.

Gillespie resigned ahead of Pakistan’s two-match Test series in South Africa in December 2024 amid reports of challenges in his relationship with the PCB and getting along with team management.

The 11th edition of the PSL will expand to eight teams, with Hyderabad and Sialkot joining as new franchises.

Hyderabad owned by Fawad Sarwar, Rs. 1.75 billion ($6.25 million) and won the franchise by winning the auction.

The PCB also confirmed the dates for the PSL 11 Player Auction scheduled for February 11.

The auction workshop was chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and PSL CEO Salman Naseer and was attended by representatives of the eight franchises, PSL officials, members of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad and other CAP players.

Key topics discussed during the session included base prices, squad budgets, squad size limits, player retention and direct signings.
