KARACHI: The England men’s cricket team needs to make a quick turnaround for the three-match home Test series against Pakistan due to the short buffer period between international duty and The Hundred 2026.

Earlier today, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released the schedule for the much-anticipated sixth edition of its marquee league, which runs from July 21 to August 16.

The eight-team competition has a dedicated window in England’s international schedule, meaning both men’s and women’s cricketers are fully available during the period.

However, this year’s century will significantly hamper England’s preparations for the Test series against Pakistan at Headingley on August 19, two-and-a-half days after the league final at Lord’s.

As a result, England players can only feature in one training session prior to the start of the series, while if 17 August 2026 is a reserve day for The Hundred final, they may not train at all.

With a one-day gap between the marquee league final and the one-dayer against South Africa, England faced an even tighter schedule than last year’s The Hundred, prompting head coach Brendan McCullum to admit the schedule was “not ideal”.

According to an international cricket news website, the management of the England men’s cricket team has come up with a solution to the packed schedule, especially for the fast bowlers, which is to invite the players to the National Performance Center in Loughborough for red-ball practice during the century.

The report further suggested that owners may oppose the option, citing the increased workload of players during the four-week tournament.
