LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced the dates for the much-awaited PSL 11 player auction following a comprehensive workshop held at Gaddafi Stadium.

The session was chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and PSL CEO Salman Naseer and was attended by representatives of eight owners, PSL officials, members of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, PCB officials and other CAP players.

A host of top players were also present, including top run-scorers in previous PSL editions, Babar Azam and Faqar Zaman, and leading wicket-takers Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

During the workshop, the PSL management gave a detailed overview of the retention and bidding process after consulting all the participants.

It has been confirmed that the PSL 11 Player Auction will take place on Wednesday, February 11.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the base prices for players and minimum incremental bids in Pakistani rupees ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) auction.

The base prices are pegged at PKR 4.2 crore, PKR 2.2 crore, PKR 1.1 crore and PKR 60 lakh.

PKR 250,000 for bids below PKR 1.1 crore, PKR 500,000 for bids below PKR 2.2 crore, PKR 1,000,000 for bids below PKR 4.2 crore and PKR 250,000 for bids below PKR 4.2 crore and PKR 40,000 for bids above PKR 1,000 crore. Minimum bid increments are also announced along with the bid amount.

Owners may bid higher than minimum increments. Each team consists of 16 to 20 players, with five to seven foreign players depending on the team size, with three to four foreign players to be fielded in the playing XI.

A minimum of two under-23 players must be in the squad, one in the playing XI.

Players retained or selected in PSL 11 will sign two-year contracts with their owners.

Franchises can retain a maximum of seven players for PSL 12, followed by a maximum of five players in an at-large auction. Released players will return to the auction pool.

Owners can also directly sign a foreign player who is not participating in PSL 10. To accommodate these signings, the team purse of PKR 45 crore may be extended to PKR 50.5 crore, with PCB support for high-quality overseas players.

PCB Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the importance of joint planning in shaping the future of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

He said the consultative session brought together owners, players and management to foster an environment for strategic decision-making aimed at strengthening the league.

“Today’s consultative session brings together owners, players and management to take strategic decisions that shape a brighter future for the PSL. The player auction model provides better financial opportunities for players and makes the league more competitive and transparent,” Naqvi said.

Salman Naseer, CEO PSL, underlined the transformative impact of the auction system on the operations of the league.

He described the current phase as a “new era” of the PSL, with the auction modernizing player recruitment, promoting fairness and enhancing the league’s overall appeal to players, owners and fans alike.

“The new era of PSL has arrived. The auction system modernizes recruitment, improves fairness and enhances the league’s appeal to players, owners and fans. The feedback from today’s workshop will guide a successful auction next month, with more enthusiasm,” Naseer said.
