Bulawayo: Captain Thomas Reve’s unbeaten half-century led England to a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the third Super Six match of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 at the Queen’s Sports Club on Monday.

Bangladesh captain Azizul Hakim’s decision to bat first backfired.

With just 7 runs in the first over, the Tigers started their innings badly as opener Jawad Abrar (six) lost his wicket.

Following an early setback, skipper Hakeem joined Rifat Beck in the middle and the duo batted cautiously to add 46 runs for the second wicket, with Farhan Ahmed caught by the opener off the first delivery of the 12th over.

Beck was Bangladesh’s top scorer with 31 runs off 36 balls with 4 fours.

Hakim, on the other hand, then put on an 18-run third-wicket partnership with Kalam Siddiqui (10) before both were dismissed in the 19th over, reducing the total to 72/4.

The skipper was a notable run scorer for his team with a cautious 20 off 46 balls.

Wicket Keeper Batter MD With Abdullah out for 25, Bangladesh lost the remaining six wickets for 64 off 116 balls.

Sebastian Morgan gave away just 28 runs in his seven overs with 3 wickets to spark England’s bowling. He was supported by Ralphie Albert and Manny Lumsden with two each, and Alex Green, James Minto and Ahmed with one scalp each.

Chasing a modest target of 137 runs, the Three Lions easily piled up 3 wickets with just 155 balls remaining for the loss of 3 wickets.

After walking out to bat at number 4, their captain Reeve followed them up with an unbeaten 59 off 50 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, with the scoreboard reading 39/2 in nine overs.

Reeve was adjudged man of the match for his unbeaten half-century and two catches behind the stumps.

The England captain shared a 78-run partnership for the third wicket with Ben Mayes, who anchored his 34 off 50 balls with 2 fours and a six.

Al Fahad was the best bowler for Bangladesh as he took 2 wickets for 37 runs in his seven overs, while Samiun Basir claimed a scalp.

The seven-wicket win strengthened England’s chances of qualifying for the U19 World Cup 2026 semi-finals as they top Group 2 of the Super Sixes stage with a net run rate of 1.989 with six points from three matches.

It is to be noted that the top two teams from each group of the Super Sixers to be held on February 3 and 4 will advance to the semi-finals.
