Sri Lanka on Tuesday announced the 17-man squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England starting on January 22 at the RPICS Stadium in Colombo.

Charit Asalanga will continue to lead the team in the white-ball format, with the team retaining mostly a core squad from their previous ODI series.

14 players have retained their places from Sri Lanka’s last ODI series against Pakistan, reflecting the management’s willingness despite the 3-0 series loss.

The squad also features some notable additions including Dhananjaya de Silva, Dunith Vellalake and Milan Ratnayake to bolster the squad’s experience.

Sri Lanka’s batting line-up consists of Padum Nissanga, Kusal Mendis, Kamil Mishara and Satira Samarawickrama, while Kamindu Mendis and Janith Lienake provide depth in the middle order.

The bowling department offers a balanced mix of pace and spin led by Asitha Fernando, Pramod Madhushan and Eshan Malinga along with the left-arm spinners of Vanindu Hasaranga, Mahesh Dikshana, Geoffrey Vandersay and Vellalake.

With the ICC Men’s World Cup 2027 on the horizon, Sri Lanka are aiming for a strong comeback on home soil.

The ODI series is followed by a five-match T20I series, scheduled a few days before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
