Karachi Kings have suffered a significant setback ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with top-order batsman Tim Seifert confirmed to pull out of the tournament.

In a recent interview with a local sports website after the Melbourne Renegades’ clash against the Perth Scorchers in Melbourne, Seifert revealed that he is stepping away from the PSL this year due to other professional commitments.

“I love playing in the PSL, it’s always fun. Right now, I’ve got an opportunity elsewhere, so I’ll miss this year’s edition. But I really enjoyed my last two years in the PSL,” he said.

The 31-year-old has been an integral part of Karachi Kings in previous seasons, representing the franchise in 17 matches, scoring 424 runs at an average of 24.94, with a strike rate of 141.33.

Seifert’s experience extends beyond the PSL, having played in several international franchise leagues including the Big Bash League (PBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), ILD20, Lanka Premier League (LPL) and Indian Premier League (IPL).

On the international stage, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman has played four ODIs for New Zealand and amassed 1,850 runs at a strike rate of 142.52, including 59 runs and 12 fifties in 77 T20Is.

The 11th edition of PSL is scheduled to be held from March 26 to May 3. This season marks a milestone for the league as it expands from six to eight teams with the addition of new teams from Sialkot and Hyderabad.

In the historic PSL 2026 auction held at the Jinnah Convention Center on Thursday, FKS Group and OZ Developers bagged the rights of the new owners for Rs1.75 billion and Rs1.85 billion respectively.
